The Death of the Individual

17th July 2019

In a world led with a herd mentality ,

It takes immense courage, resolve and sacrifice to maintain the purity of your form .

You have to be at peace with being misunderstood .

You have to be at peace with walking alone .

You have to be at peace with being judged.

In the end just remember ,

"If the world is an array of art,

 You are the Masterpiece"

Henna Sohail

If humans had no names, what would we call you?

Yes, you reading this.

What's that specific trait that identifies your individuality so that it distinguishes you from the other ten billion persons on earth?

For example, there are many footballers, but each with his own mark.

Messi is not Christiano, neither Ronaldinho nor Beckham, the four are geniuses yet separately identifiable.

Ten billion people is equal to ten billion individualities.

Not even twins share fingerprints, how far more can they then differ in the essence of their beings?

In a world of people, the individual is an endangered species.

In a world of conformity, standing out is an act of terror.

In a sea of wannabes, being different is an insult to social etiquette and order.

In an industry of robots, men are extinct.

Collective fear stimulates herd mentality and tends to produce ferocity toward those who are not regarded as members of the herd.

Bertrand Russell

We are governed;

By governments,

By faiths,

By systems,

By communities,

By societies,

By origins,

By colleagues,

By external influences...we are seen for, heard for, felt for, thought for, spoken for... eventually dying having been lived for.

We've been silenced into puppets and wooven dolls.

We've been shrunk into look-alikes, sound-alikes and think-alikes.

We've been reduced to cattle, chasing our nine to fives, paying our tax and tithes, reciting our anthems and rhymes, attending schools our entire lives... never taking a second to ask why?

We are just happy to eat our grass (especially when it's greener than our neighbors), shit our sheds, feed our calves and see the vet ...after all, the cycle keeps us safe and why risk being a misfit.

But if that's our life, then aren't we dead already?

Who are you really?

Fuck your name and accolades.

Who is Victor Mafusa really?

In the end, all my life will simply be accounted for by my thoughts, words and deeds.

The question then begs,

Are my thoughts originally mine?

Do my words and deeds express my true nature or am I just a replica?

In this world;

There's never been a me,

There's no other me,

There'll never be another me,

Being anything that's not me is theft and robbery of an element meant to balance the universe,

Being anything that's not me is murder of the self,

Being anything that's not me is denial of God,

No one else sees things as I do,

The same is true for you.

I want a new life.
